Purple Heart 2003 First Day Issue Cover. Cancel is from Mount Vernon, VA, home of President George Washington. Envelope has bust and horseback riding depiction of General Washington, in front of his Mount Vernon home. This stamps is a celebration and honor of The Order of The Purple Heart for Military Merit. Created in 1782 by George Washington, this medal is the oldest military decoration in the world, still in present use, and the first award made available to a common soldier.This cover envelope has been carefully stored and is in its original cellophane display arrangement. Very few signs of wear, and virtually no creases. Back of envelope shows the proper embossing which in essence certifies the issue. A great gift for those bravely serving our armed forces.
