Here's another definitive from 1992 that the USPS denies was part of a 'Flora and Fauna' series! This colorful 45¢ stamp paid the two-ounce first class rate back then . . . and as a fairly new cachetmaker at the time, I remember thinking, "Can I afford to buy these EXPENSIVE stamps to make enough FDCs??"

Obviously I did . . although we made fewer of these covers than normal!

Also known as Pond Perches and Kivvers, their 'Pumpkinseed' name derives from their basic shape (although I think whoever named them wasn't all that familiar with real pumpkin seeds!).

The cachet shows a Pumpkinseed Sunfish dad getting ready for Halloween and showing his son where pumpkinseeds actually come from! It was offset printed in two colors on ungummed envelopes.
