Item Description
Those USPS-cosponsored stamp shows called 'Mega Events' used to be held twice a year, and in June of 1999 it rolled into Anaheim, CA. The colorful set of five Aquarium Fish was issued at the show, and the Scandinavian Philatelic Library/Scandinavian Collectors Club decided to hold a member meeting there for the first time.The cachet shows a Viking-helmeted Puffin, sitting atop a stack of books (from the Scandinavian Philatelic Library) fishing for his dinner using cheese as bait. Going after captive aquarium fish is pretty short of 'sportsmanlike' behavior, even for a polar bird visiting California!
The Copperhand Butterflyfish and the Powder Blue Tang singles are cancelled with a clean strike of the official pictorial FDoI show cancel on a blue envelope. The cachet is handcolored, and the 'Puffins Cachet' logo on the reverse is the only time this logo has been used on a strictly USA FDC!
