MAILED POSTAL FORM: CERTIFICATE of DEPOSIT of SURPLUS FUNDS; originally submitted with Adams Basin NY May 26 1942 four-bar postmark, mailed back to sender from NYC after being processed, May 27 1942 NYC machine cancel over permit, addressed with Adams Basin handstamp, reverse gives information on a $50 "surplus" of funds that was remitted with this card, processed very quickly considering it was war-time, some flaws especially at corner, still pretty fresh and truly scarce! VF

Though it does not state the number on the form this was Form 1842-D. It is known used from 1939-47. Apparently used for Money Order funds that exceeded the amount the Post Office Department felt was necessary for individual Post Offices to have on hand.

Adams Basin is in Monroe County on the Erie Canal.
