PORTUGUESE GUINEA: BOOK (5" x 7" with ribbon) contains stamps mounted; Quinto Centenario da Descoberta da Guiné (500th anniv of the Discovery of Guinee), 28 pgs, with six stamps (stuck down) representing a post-war set AND IT'S A BETTER SET (Scott #251 // 257), this set is retailing at $75 in Europe (of course that is with full gum), the set in the book lacks one stamp but it is NOT the important high value, there are two stamps with the same design and the publishers of the book didn't feel it was necessary to show it twice (it only catalogs 0.80), second scan shows the hi value, all the stamps are on one page except for one page has two (third scan), stamps include a U.S. GRANT design (apparently President Grant mediated in a dispute over Port. Guinea with the British and he is seen as something of a hero in Portugal), the book is in Portuguese, then follows with a translation in French and finally English, very scarce publication created for Government Officials, pages a hair loose, old price and stamping on first page, I could only find one of these books on-line and it was 50 Euros, Fine-VF. A great deal!!!
