Item Description

This business size cover was mailed from Flushing, Queens, New York to Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller at the State Capitol in Albany, New York in 1966 franked by 5-cent dark blue gray George Washington booklet stamp issue of 1962, Scott 1213. The stamp is tied to the envelope by a machine cancellation.

The cachet portraying an eagle with shield and flags reads:

'National Police Officers Association of America
Police Hall of Fame Building
North Port Charlotte
Venice, Florida 33595
Serving the Interests of 480,000 Law Enforcement Officers Throughout the Nation.'

Additional cachet at bottom right with eagle and "Valor."

Slit open bottom, the backflap is sealed and intact. Tape stains on flap from when originally mailed; tape removed (see scan). No contents or backstamps.
