Peru Scott C78-C81 Unused F-VFHOG - 1948 Melbourne Overprints - Remainders of C78-C81 were overprinted "Melbourne 1956" and placed on sale Nov 19, 1956 as "voluntary stamps" with no postal validity. The sale of these stamps helped pay the cost of sending Peruvian athletes to the Melbourne Olympics. These stamps were declared valid for postage on one day, April 15, 1957. Only 10,000 sets were overprinted. Couple of spots on the backs - SCV $22.50
