SCARCE IMPERFORATE STRIP exhibiting FLAW in middle SEAL: 1888 Official Seal; Typographed imperf, (Scott #OX5a), fully imperf strip of three, shows top margin, middle stamp exhibits variety of extra line below frame line (see second scan), listed in Kotanchik as Type E, strip has ORIGINAL GUM, apparently applied with brush, spotty in places & HR, couple tiny flaws but basically VF+

Kotanchik prices this at $33++ Scott $50+

Many people believe all imperf official seals are printer's waste. But again I ask: Why would some printer's waste have gum? I believe these were sent to a Post Office for use.
