The federal deficit and the proposed budgetary increases, now being measured in TRILLIONs of dollars, are staggering. _IF_ you could maintain a payback rate of one million dollars per hour around-the-clock, it would take _OVER 11 YEARS_ to repay just _ONE_ trillion dollars of this debt! This is the legacy our children will inherit, surely not a burden of debt that they will enjoy anymore than today's taxpayers embrace the proposition. The USPS will _never_ have the chance to pay homage to this sad fact with such a sarcastic message on a real postage stamp. (Although we can always hope...) In the meantime, this se-tenant pair of artistamps faux pas makes a graphic point of the current economic disaster occuring in this first decade of 21st century America.
