Item Description

This cover was mailed from North Granville, New York to Burlington, New Jersey in 1886 franked by 2-cent red brown large George Washington Banknote issue of 1883, Scott 210. The stamp is cancelled by the six killer bars from a duplex handstamp.

Content is a long letter written in pencil cursive likely by a Quaker given the language used ('thee,' 'thy,' and referring to each other as 'sister').

Opened by lifting of the backflap which caused some tears to the envelope's body, one of which extends to the front just to the right of the stamp (see scans). Burlington receiving cds verso
