Item Description

After the capitulation of Japanese forces in 1945, postal rates were revised. The stamps available became obsolete and there was no where to obtain stamps. So the Mengkiang and North China Full Value Overprints were surcharged with new values without regard to the value or type of stamp. Surcharging was done at Kalgan. For more information on these stamps, see the China Clipper Volume 57, No.3 and Volume 72, No. 4. Postal use is very scarce although there are favor canceled stamps available. The stamps were only valid for postage for a short period of time. A detailed catalog in German is in print.
