The Japanese Occupation of North China stamps were initially issued on remainders of the Chung Hwa and Dahtung Sun Yat Sen stamps. This was very short lived and the "New Peking Print" stamps were commissioned and printed in Shanghai and Nanjing. These were then used for overprinting in the Occupied areas of North China. Initially (Early Stage) they were printed well on foreign paper, perforated cleanly, and had full even gum. As time went on, the printing deteriorated as did the gum giving rise to the middle stage stamps with thick even gum and then the late stage stamps with thin gum. Due to paper shortages, and towards the end of 1944, these were printed on three kinds of economical paper: Newsprint, Yellowish, and White all without gum. Except for a few of the lower denominations on newsprint without gum, these are quite scarce to rare. The types of stamps are easy to distinguish. It is an exciting and interesting part of the Japanese Occupation story to collect!
