While the USA is celebrating only 100 years of Air Mail service, SESCAL 2018 honored the much more significant and historic 800th anniversary of the legendary FLYING DRAGON AIR MAIL!

Though considered a remarkable achievement at the outset - training dragons to deliver mail and read addresses - the service lasted only for 110 years. Much of the mail arrived singed by dragon breath, and many many peasant residences were severely damaged by the large, clumsy delivery reptiles.

This cover shows one of the Dragon Mail Carriers on his route, somewhat heedless of the mail he is trailing behind him. Franked with the recent Air Mail Centennial, and Purple Dragon stamps, the cover is cancelled with a very close approximation of the official SESCAL 2018 pictorial postmark.

Less than 40 of these were serviced, and nearly all were handed out free to AFDCS members at the show. Grab this one now - 800 year anniversaries don't happen every day!
