Item Description

An attractive set of 12 different colorful stamps featuring carvings of Carousel Horses was issued by the Marshall islands at the APS StampShow held in Richmond VA in 2010.  The stamps were designed by the much-in-demand and über-talented Connecticut artist, Chris Calle.

Calle twisted the arm of his friend Dave Bennett to supply an image that could work with all 12 carvings . . and Bennett provided a cartoon of two children enjoying a ride.

Here is one of those FDCs - featuring the stamp by Calle, (in combo with a 1988 US single of a carousel horse - a stamp designed by Calle's father!) cancelled with a large pictorial official First Day of Issue cancel from the Marshall Islands Postal Service, that also denotes the APS/Richmond location where the stamps were issued.

Both Bennett and Calle have signed this cover.

Proceeds from the sales of these covers at the APS Stamp Show went to the Caritas Felices home for children in Pachacamac, Peru, to which the Calle family is connected!
