Item Description
A father and son snake setting off legal fireworks celebrate the Lunar New Year in 2001 honoring the Year of the Snake.This FDC for the first series of USA Lunar New Year issues also bears a single of Canada's $1.00 value 2001 Lunar New Year stamp, die cut in an arc motif. Both stamps received the US first day of issue cancel in Oakland, CA on January 20, 2001.
The cachet was printed on an overall-design handmade envelope in heliotrope ink, with gold leaf accents tipped-in by hand. The reverse bears the selvage of the Canada souvenir sheet from which the $1 stamp was removed!
