The test firing of world's largest rocket with 1,300,000 lbs. of thrust: was to test the propulsion system, aerodynamics & structural design of the rocket.The test was considered a complete success as the rocket was propelled 215 miles down range in the Atlantic Ocean . This giant rocket was the vehicle used to carry the astronauts to the moon.
