The Faroes Islands, long a country of fishermen, has just issued a world's first --- a 50 Kronur stamp with an actual square of Cod Skin attached! The nicely scaled piece of Atlantic Cod is about 1mm thick and sits on the stamp next to an engraving of the fish from whence it came! Face value is approx. $7.20 in USA dollars!This Puffin Cachets cover shows a Cod Fish in his skivvies leaving the Dry Cleaners with his freshly cleaned skin!
The cover bears two very nice strikes of the official Tórshavn First Day of Issue cancel that repeats the Faroese word for 'COD' as seen on the stamp. The very recent issue date was September 26, 2016.
The reverse shows that this is cover #3 of only 10 serviced!
