Item Description

This 2-cent carmine George Washington Government Stamped Envelope issue of 1899, Scott U362, was mailed from Jackson, Michigan to Rockford, Illinois in1904. A (Hanmer #9, Dial 1, Killer 5 var, 'C' - "Common") Columbia machine cancellation cancels the indicia.

Verso has been struck by a (Hanmer #18, Dial 4, Killer 6, 'U' - "Unusual" / SM8 Machine-2 Service marking #8, 'SS'- "Very Scarce") Barry machine cancellation.

Neatly slit open top AND both sides, the backflap is sealed and intact. No contents.
