Iran 1898 Shah Muzaffar-ed-Din Scott #104-119 economy set with six reprints Mint & Used. Reprints are 4c #107, 5c #108, 10c #110, 3k #115, 5k #117 and 50k #119. Others are originals. Among the originals, #104-106 are sound, while all other originals have original gum with tiny to small hinge thins. 2009 Scott Catalog Value of originals = $128.00.

Originals Vs. Reprints:

Originals: strongly horizontal and weakly vertical paper weave with pores showing short horizontal dashes intermixed with mostly opaque areas when viewed in strong light from behind. Gum on Kran values shows horizontal striations conforming to the horizontal paper weave when viewed at an angle to the the light at 5x magnification. The same striation persists with used Kran values.

Reprints: thinner paper with regular diagonal paper weave showing a very regular diamond pattern of pores when viewed in front of strong light from behind intersecting at a 60 degree angle forming a vertically pointed arrow pattern when viewed at an angle to the light. Gum on Kran values is relatively smooth without striations and tends to conform to the typography.
