REVENUE STAMPED PAPER: TWO; first is 2c Spanish-American War Issue,(Scott #RN-X7), on National Bank of Newburgh check, dated Jun 2 1900, it is interesting to note that the original check was printed 189_ and was sent to the printer to have the original printing in Red struck out and overprinted with 190_ (see second scan), wonder if they did that after the stamp was applied? Most unusual, lot also includes an RN-C1 on slightly irregular check from First National Bank, 1873 usage with, strangely enough, a copy of R135 attached at UL, not sure if it belongs but it looks good! Both items made by Corliss Macy co of NYC, lot also includes three other checks (no stamps), 1933 RR treasurer check, 1950 Pittsburgh Cincinnati, Chicago & St Louis Railroad interest check MADE OUT TO HONOLULU, TERRITORY OF HAWAII (Bishop National Bank), handstamped on reverse, couple of wrinkles, also a 1964 New York Central check (for the Beech Creek Railroad receivership), fascinating ephemera, Fine-VF. Great lot with five items in all.
