Item Description
Iceland celebrated the 75th anniversary of their 1944 independence from Denmark back in 2019, and Iceland Post issued a handsome stamp in honor of the occasion. It depicts FJALLKONAN, the 'Lady of the Mountain', who has been a national emblem of the spirit of the Icelandic people and an allegorical personification of the country since the 19th Century.This cachet shows FJALLKONAN, with her raven on her shoulder, shaking hands with the Puffin Cachets mascot as he congratulates her on her Diamond Jubilee (and probably tells her he admires that three-flame ice-crown she's wearing!).
The cover received two clean strikes of the pictorial First Day of Issue postmark of February 7, 2019 in Reykjavík, Iceland. The reverse bears the designation that this is cover #11 of only 20 sent to Iceland for servicing.
