Item Description
Iceland Post had a series that spanned several years in which they depicted 2 of Iceland's many fascinating fungi. Here is the first set of 2 in that series, featuring the Larch Mushroom and the Meadow Mushroom!This handcolored cachet, on a yellow handmade envelope, depicts the Puffin Cachets mascot as a chef, sampling these tasty woodland morsels!
The two singles and the cover received two nice strikes of the official pictorial First Day of Issue cancel from Reykjavík that depicts a mushroom.
This cover was cancelled on May 20, 1999 . . and the reverse shows - along with the Puffin Cachets logo - that this was cover #1 of only 10 covers sent to Iceland for servicing!
