Item Description
A puffin Butterfly Hunter stops to admire two members of Iceland's indigenous Lapidopteri on this handcolored FDC from 2000.The Moth called "The Antler" makes a perfect set of antlers as he perches on the puffin's pith helmet, and the butterfly with the big name "Dark Marbled Carpet" rests on his net.
The two stamps were issued on 10 September, 2000 and received a nice strike of the pictorial First Day of Issue postmark in the capital of Reykjavík that shows the two fluttering insects!
The cover is on an envelope handmade from gray stationery, and the reverse bears the Puffin Cachets logo and shows that this is cover #1 of only 8 sent to Iceland for servicing!
