Item Description
The Channel Islands nation of Jersey issued a set of 6 stamps in 1999 depicting 'Small Mammals' that dwell on the island in the British channel, and here are four of them, including the high-value of the set.The handcolored cachet shows the Hedgehog, the Squirrel, the Bat and the Mole under a magnifying glass, although they are not really THAT small!. The stamps received a nice clean strike of the pictorial First Day of Issue postmark from Jersey that depicts a squirrel on August 21, 1999.
The cover is on an envelope handmade from tan stationery, and the reverse bears the Puffin Cachets logo and shows that this is cover #1 of only 10 covers sent to Jersey for servicing!
