Item Description

This Concorde First Flight cover was mailed at the Concorde Departure Terminal at London's Heathrow Airport and crossed the Atlantic on the jet's First Commercial Scheduled London - Washington, D.C. flight, BA579, on May 24, 1976. Addressed to Minesing, Ontario, Canada, the cover was franked by a 20p olive QEII Machin issue of 1970, Scott 636 that was tied by a pictorial handstamp picturing the SST.

The cachet pictures the SST. Air Mail etiquette.

The insert also pictures the Concorde and includes technical stats of the plane (cruising speed, weight, etc) on one side, and on the other explains the commissioning of this "special cover" by the BPO.

The sideflap is un-sealed and intact. No backstamps.

The cover in the scan is the one you will receive. Light lines in images are SCANNER ARTIFACT!
