Item Description
The common EUROPA stamp design theme for 2019 was 'National Birds'. Guernsey issued a set of 6 avians native to its shores . . and two of them were among my very favorite birds!The Puffin is a sea-going pelagic, and the Kingfisher is a fresh-water riparian inhabitant, so they don't really compete for meals head-to-head . . . but in this cachet depicting the latest "Royal Guernsey Cartoon-Birds Fishing Championship", it looks like the Kingfisher is the clear winner!
This cover was cancelled in the capital city of Guernsey on April 1, 2019. Both stamps received a nice clear strike of the official pictorial First Day of Issue postmark. The reverse shows this to be cover #10 of only 20 serviced.
