GEMINI 6A - USS PAIUTE (ATF-159)Recovered 12/15/1965 Atlantic OceanGT-6A with Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford aboard, was launched on 15 December 1965 and inserted into orbit, where it made a rendezvous with Gemini 7, already in Earth orbit. After making this historic rendezvous, the spacecraft splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean at 10:29 a.m. Dec. 16, 1965 and the astronauts were brought aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Wasp. This cover addressed to Germany was cancelled on board the Captain's Cover of the USS Paiute (ATF-159) at Jacksonville, FL on the recovery date. Seldom seen and quite scarce.DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP !!
