GREAT BRITAIN: 2 1/2d George VI, war-time printing, (Scott #262), tied to Post Card by London Jan 5 1944 machine cancel (possibly in error, message datelined Dec 15 1944), addressed Brussels Belgium, censored by the British, then censored again (presumably by the Nazis) with FOUR chemical swipes (looking for hidden messages), addr to a Mlle. Verlant, who may have been hiding British officers in her home! Message is headed Capt. H Waddington 63 Worthington Rd, Tolworth Surrey 15.12.44, begins Dear Miss Verlant I wish you a Happy Xmas and New Year then goes on to say I expect your house is now Quite Open to British Officers, mentions ice cream and possibly returning, very attractive card with a lot of history packed in to it!
