Iceland's most prevalent native goose, the GRAYLAG, is not only the largest goose in Iceland, it is the largest gray goose in the world!  An adult can weigh 8 pounds, and have a wingspan of nearly 6 feet!

That's certainly large enough to give a Puffin a ride, as this GRAYLAG is doing on the handcolored cachet.

The cover bears a single of Iceland's 2005 salute to the giant waterfowl, which was the higher value in a two-stamp set (but the other bird wasn't photogenic enough to grace a cachet!).  The cover bears two nice strikes of the official pictorial útgáfudagur cancel from Reykjavík on November 3, 2005.

The reverse shows this is cover #7 of only 11 covers sent to Iceland for servicing.
