They have served abroad as United Nations and NATO peacekeepers. At home they have provided critical assistance, food and shelter to communities affected by floods, fires and ice storms. The Guards’ scarlet tunics and tall bearskin caps are the familiar face of national ceremonies, including the Changing of the Guard, opening of Parliament, Remembrance Day and events held for dignitaries and guests of Canada. Guards stand sentry at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, at Rideau Hall and at investitures of national heroes. In venues from concert halls to hockey arenas, the Regimental Band performs at over 100 engagements a year. The Governor General’s Foot Guards have earned the nickname “Canada’s Regiment” and will continue 150 years of tradition by serving with precision, pageantry and pride.inkfrog terapeak
