Item Description
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928) was a Scottish architect, designer, and water colourist and artist. He is world renowned for his holistic approach to architecture designing not only the building but all contents as wall ranging from lights to cutlery, furniture to textiles. He was assisted by his wife Margaret Macdonald, her sister Francis Macdonald and her husband the architect Herbert McNair. Collectively known as ‘The Glasgow Four’ they met at Glasgow School of Art and went on to figure as a major influence upon the creation of the Vienna Secession. This stamp is attributed to the Glasgow Four, and Charles Rennie Mackintosh in particular, as a council commission following the creation of the famous Glasgow School of Art. Notice the GSA graphics. Produced with buttermilk coloured raised lettering over deep blue.Almost mint condition. 90% original gum. Light hinge.
