Germany, Scott #B52, 1933, Wagner Opera Set, Semi-Postal Charity Stamps (Help for the Needy - Nothilfe), Die Meißterßinger of Nürnberg; the work premiered in Munich on June 21, 1868; it is one of Wagner's more intimate operas; it was not based on any major myths as his other works were; a young singer, Walter von Stolzing, enters a master singer's contest with an unfinished score; stuns everyone with his rendition, wins the contest and the hand of his love, Eva Pogner; (6+4) pfennigs, gray green, Scott 2019 catalog value: $2.40, off-centered, large, double strike cancels, both half circular, black-inked, double-rimmed, socked-on-the-nose cancellations, one classic, nearly full circle with mailing details bridge and with partial mailing details over the left half of of the stamp, the second on the right edge, both over the central image, sound back, mangled perforation at bottom right and short perforations at left top edge, both when viewed from the front, otherwise good perforations. This is not a 'bait and switch' offer. The stamp you see is the stamp you will receive.
