Item Description

A very unique and historic piece of postal stationery, with black cachet on the left depicting the Steamship Hamburg - Amerika Linie, a transatlantic shipping enterprise between Germany and America, established in Hamburg, in 1847. The enterprise operated until roughly1970. The stationery has New York cancelations on two 10pf Deutsches-Reich red postage stamps, each SC83. The 10pf stamp on the left appears to have a small tear just below the upper left numeral 10.  There is also a canceled United States 10c red Postage Due stamp SC J42. All cancelations are dated 1906. The stationery was mailed from New York to Milford, Connecticut.  

On the back of the stationery, there is a 1906 cancelation from the destination post office in Connecticut. Perhaps of more importance, is the blue and black Hamburg-Amerika Linie Anchor Logo, with letters H.A.P.A.G, the abbreviations for "Hamburg-Amerikanische Packetfahrt-Aktien-Gesellschaft". This would be a fantastic addition to any collection of German-American postal shipping history.
