Item Description
The 33¢ Pink Coral Rose stamp was issued on a Friday the Thirteenth in August, 1999 at the AmeriCover show in Indianapolis that year. August the Thirteenth also happened to be the birthday of legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock.The handcolored cachet was designed to celebrate the unlucky date of issue for the Rose stamp, but when we later became aware that it was also the 100th anniversary of Hitchcock's birth, a special rubber stamp noting that fact was quickly designed and applied to a small number of these FDCs at AmeriCover. Less than 40 of the total is my guess.
