Prior to being acquired by this collector, these fancy cancels may have been in many collections and although various collectors may have penciled-in notes, measurements, identifications, descriptions, prices, etc. We are fortunate that this collector was such a well regarded expert in this field. We are selling the fancy cancel which is accurately identified and described above. In many cases the collector (and we) has referenced "cancellation & killers of the banknote era 1870-1897" by james cole. We are told, but cannot confirm that this collector was a contributor to this highly regards reference book. We pride ourselves in posting ultra high-resolution scans of the stamp so you can clearly see centering and condition. Unlike most listing of fancy cancels, we have elected to show scans of the front and back of the stamp, although it is all about the cancellation!
