Mr. Depew collected only finest items and unusual showpieces from these two areas of specialty. While he collected both used and mint stamps, he especially treasured quality used examples of stamps. Typically, quality used examples of early stamps command a premium because after of their condition after usage in the mails, being removed from the cover without damage and then collected, sold or traded over many decades; it is really a challenge to find highly graded used examples.
