Cds. These seals were used in a similar fashion to the 'found in supposedly empty equipment' handstamps in the united states and are very infrequently encountered. Six types have been identified, the first being issued about 1939, their use continues to the present with the most recent issue about 1993. Only a total of 6 covers for all of the types have been reported, of which four are the type 4 seal. Sent 1992, beautiful as is condition. (seals / tapes by definition were used to repair damaged mail caused by a wide variety of conditions and found in a wide range of condition.) this cover appeared in the exhibit of the late jim kotanchik's gold medal award winning exhibit, "official seals of great britain" the exhibit was probably last shown at westpex in 2009. It is possible that some of the information contained therein is no longer current. Jim kotanchik was a highly regarded expert in worldwide seals.
