Item Description

This 2-cent carmine George Washington Government Stamped Envelope issue of 1903, Scott U387, was mailed from Dubois, Pennsylvania to Wellsville, New York in 1906 and struck by a bold Doremus machine cancellation.

the Corner Card Reads:

'After 5 days, return to
Du Bois and Butler Brick Co.,
11 West Long Avenue,
Du Bois, PA.'

Thin strip of sealing wax verso (parts missing) across flap. I've seen this only once before and guess it was a security seal?

Slit open top, the backflap is sealed and intact. Small corner creases. No contents. Wellsville receiving cds verso.
