Item Description

This is the 1930's surplus food order booklet pane, which is now for sale. The Great Depression Era booklet pane is brilliantly fresh with full never hinged original gum and great centering for a scarce issue. These 25-cent bluestamps were issued by the Federal Surplus Commodities Corporation starting in 1933. The food stamp plan was terminated in 1943, but the modern Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program -- or SNAP -- still popularly called “food stamps” can be traced back to the New Deal’s Food Stamp Plan. The volume of commodities distributed to the needy by the FSCC was large.
