Item Description

This is a choice postally used, lightly cancelled 1899 special delivery cover featuring the 1895 Scott #E5. This bit of California postal history began the journey in Hanford April 13, 1899, and ended up at the United States Land Office in Visalia, California. The faint receiving postmark makes it difficult to determine the receipt date of the cover. The stamp is very fresh and clean despite the lightly struck cork cancellation over the messenger. Judging by the margins, this is a superb example of the stamp even as a natural straight-edge (left margin)! Please study the images for clarity, color, condition, cancel, receiving mark, and centering.
