Original art postcard by member of the Czech Legion in Italy, printed and sold to support/honor the legion. Czechoslovakia was part of Austria at the start of WWI and were obligated to fight on the side of the Entente forces (Germany-Austria-Turkey-Bulgaria) against the allies. However, there was a large national liberation movement, so many Czechs went abroad to fight against the Germans-Austrians with the hope that if they lost, Czechoslovakia would become an independent nation, which is what happened. The Czechs fought for Russia, for the Italians and for the French, among others. Slightly worn, as per scans; genuinely used in the fledgling Czech Republic.
