-  This cover was accompanied with some historic reference.  Cover addressed to Miss R. M. Ravenel, Society Hill, Darlington District, SC. The Ravenel family operated a successful shipping business.  Dr. Edmund Ravenel, Sr. was a successful physician and surgeon on the CS Medical Staff as well as an accomplished chemist and scientific conchologist.  His son, also Dr. Edmund Ravenel, entered the Service of the Confederacy as an Assistant Surgeon.  The Ravenel family played many important parts during the war to include military service as well as running the Blockade.

Obtaining Certificates of Authenticity
Notice that a stamp is being submitted for a certificate must be MADE at time of purchase. No refunds will be made after 120 days of sale unless an extension is granted. Absolutely no exceptions to this rule!  Due to the high cost of certificates, if the certificate comes back and the opinion stated is not as described, we will refund the purchase price and up to $50.00 for the cost of the certificate for stamps with a purchase price in excess of $100.00. For stamps with a purchase price of less than $100.00, we will only refund the cost of the stamp and not the certificate. The ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE not a copy, must be returned to us with the stamp. The stamp must be in the same condition as when it was shipped to you. We only accept opinions from the APS, PFC, PSE, PSAG, William T. Crowe or Confederate Stamp Alliance. If the stamp was sold with a Certificate no refunds will be made. Stamps that are encased subsequent to purchase or submitted for grading and come back with a grade different than the one described by us, will not be accepted for returns.THE INABILITY OF ONE OF THE ABOVE REFERENCED AUTHORITIES TO EXPRESS AN OPINION IS NOT GROUNDS FOR RETURN.
