Costa rica / usa ny registry exchange cover - 1903 (20 sept) registered uprated 5c columbus postal stationery envelope mailed from san jose to leiden, netherlands via the new york registry exchange. A most unusual item where it seems two stamps were removed in ny and the registry exchange label scott no. Fx-ny1a(i)(ii) applied over space. Lots of markings and backstamped san jose, nyc and leiden. A very attractive and scarce item.
