Congo (Kinshasa) Mint Not Hinged set from 1961.Scott 366-370 SG 402-406I recently purchased an estate lot that came from a family that lived in The Congo in the late fifties and early sixties. They had purchased mint stamps at the post office and they were still in the tropical packaging that the post office supplied to separate the stamps. There were large quantities of some of the stamps as well as used on paper and some letters. There was also some documentation including permits to be in the area at the time. This was a very tumultuous time in the region after Congo received independence and many parties were fighting for control of the huge natural resources that the country holds. These stamps are Mint Unhinged and were purchased in the Congo at the time of release. I have more than 5 sets available, picture is representative of stamps supplied.
