E. B. STERLING; CLASSIC STAMP DEALER: signature on reverse of 1c Postal Card, (Scott #UX9), used from Trenton NJ Jan 5 1888 with Bold target duplex, addressed St Louis MO, letter states I'm looking over my book account / I find there is due me 25 cts for a Revenue Catalog sent to Middlebury Vermont (in 1885). Please remit . . ., I'm unsure why he was writing to St Louis for a Vermont deadbeat but perhaps the addressee was some sort of insurance agent for philatelic losses, clear signature, some ink smears mostly away from the signature, very interesting glimpse of the Stamp Universe from 130 years ago, Fine-VF

The card is addressed to M Batchelder, whose name rings a distant bell in my head. He applied for APS membership in 1888 and published pricelists according to the internet.
