Canada, Scott #1933, used (o), 2002, New Years Issue: Year of the Horse, stamp shows a horse in red foil and bamboo shoots; the horse is the seventh of the twelve-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar, ancient Chinese astronomers divided zodiac stars into groups known as the '28 Mansions;' this is because of how the moon moves in its monthly journey across the sky; it is said the moon 'visits' these mansions as it passes through the stars; the horse is linked to the House of Gender; in the year of the wild and free-spirited Horse, masculine and rugged things are favored; 48 cents, perforated: 13½, booklet stamp: perforations cut close on left side, customer torn on other three sides, lithography and foil application, no watermark, gray and red foil, Scott 2019 catalog value: 25¢. Nicely centered, faint, non-descript, smudged cancellation marks on the right edge of the stamp at the middle and well clear of central image, good perforations; centering and image free cancellation warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch' offer. The stamp you see will be the one you receive.
