M. Roberts Patriotic Cover: From Canada; 3c Coronation, (#233), tied
by November 27 1941 Sussex MPO cancel (New Brunswick), another strike
adjoining, addr Pottstown PA USA, fantastic A. M. Roberts patriotic design,
depicts Hitler driving a tank, leaning out and asking Stalin for petrol (marked Russian Oil in design), Stalin says NIXSKY! NO MORE GAS FOR YOU ADOLF! A very scarce depiction in Black, these A M Roberts designs were
made in the U.S. (Hamburg NY) but appear specifically constructed for the
Canadian market, the cover was mailed Nov 27, so it probably arrived Dec 1 (the 30th was a Sunday), meaning it most likely arrived just a few
days before Pearl Harbor, cover has gum toning mostly on reverse (these A M Roberts
covers always seem to be a bit brown), wonderful eye appeal, truly rare, Fine
-Vf.
