Item Description

The item in this listing is a mint, never hinged airmail stamp issued by the Cameroon post office specifically for use in the territory of Southern Cameroun.  The overprint "République Fédérale" (Federal Republic) was applied to an otherwise ordinary stamps of French Cameroun, and with a surcharged value in pounds sterling, which was the currency in Southern Cameroon  (please see history below.)

The modern Republic of Cameroon was formerly part of the German colony of Kamerun, which included territory now part of six modern African nations.  The largest part of Cameroon was mandated to the French by the League of Nations, and was thereafter known as Cameroun or French Cameroun.  A small slice of Kamerun along its' western border were also mandated to the British, which was then known as British Cameroons. 

In 1960, the new Federal Republic of Cameroon was formed from the French colony and the southern part of British Cameroons.  (The northern part had voted not to rejoin Cameroon but rather to join with British-run Nigeria.)  Initially, the fact that Francs were used in the former French colony and Pounds in the former British colony necessitated the stamp shown in this listing, until a currency union of the two halves of Cameroon could be enacted.

This means that if you choose to forgo insurance, you agree to release me from any future claim via paypal if it should be lost in the mail.

Payment Options:

Paypal, Money Orders, and Checks payable in the US are accepted. Credit cards accepted through paypal only. Checks must be drawn on a US bank, or I cannot cash them! (I can no longer accept Canadian Postal Money Orders, even those in US dollars-sorry!)

Return Policy:

14 day, money back guarantee, provided the item(s) are sent back in original condition. The 14-day period is defined as follows:

US Bidders: 14 days from the 3rd day after the item is sent.

International: 14 days from the 7th day after the item is sent.
