BUSINESS COLLEGE STAMPS: Seven stamps from the Pigier school of Paris, circa 1920s. The 10c & 25c are no gum (used), 25c has small flts at L. The 20c is MNH with bottom selvedge. The 50c is MNH, but the gum is a slightly different color than all the others with gum. This stamp also has a crease which is visible from the reverse only. The rare 1FR is MNH. The other two items are  "revenue" Pigier stamps. Both are MNH. Both have selvedge (50c is corner margin). The 25c has two creases.The 50c also has a crease. These are the only Pigier revenue stamps I have ever seen. ALL STAMPS ARE OVERPRINTED SPECIMEN, but it does NOT translate to specimen in the anglicized sense. There is an accent over the third letter. THESE OVERPRINTED STAMPS ARE HOW ALL PIGIER ISSUES WERE USED. I have seen a photo of a Pigier cover and both stamps have specimen overprints on this cover. This lot includes all seven stamps AND a Pigier textbook for "Practical Correspondence" which has many illustrations of letters, covers, etc. Some show stamps (actual French stamps this time). The 295 page textbook is from the 1930s and has some faults and binding issues but it is complete. The Pigier school was founded in 1850 on similar principles to the Eastman National Business College. In the 1920s it opened its first foreign branch. They had several schools all over the world.
