Item Description

Exceptional cancel! Australian stamps were used briefly in BRUNEI TOWN in the aftermath of WWII, after the occupying Japanese forces were vanquished. This example is shows a nice KUALA BELAIT 1 JAN 1946 cancel on piece, known as the "STRAITS TIMES cancel" (Proud D8). See photo of back of stamps. Better photos or scans are available upon request, as sometimes the colors don't show correctly.
